Whilst shooting in Istanbul, I thought a project taking photos of the very handsome Turkish men shop keepers would be fun. With the possibility then of Turkey joining the EU, the photos might be useful for photo libraries too.
I photographed each portrait using natural, available light, in front of what they were selling. A Turkish friend helped by writing a copyright message for me to hand out, as I didn’t know a word of Turkish. Initially most of the men assumed I wanted them to take a photograph of me, so they seemed delighted when they realised I wanted to take their photograph. Great fun. Thanks to all the guys!
