Auschwitz
Tel Aviv’s Herta and Paul Amir Building by Preston Scott Cohen is an extension to the main Brutalist Tel Aviv Museum of Art, built in 1971 by Dan Eytan and Yitzchak Yashar.
The Architecture
The building is a work of art in itself. All of the galleries are accessed from the 26 metre high atrium. The cast concrete walls both slice and curve through the building. Dramatic shapes and shadows are everywhere. I particularly like the white-rendered, curving, spaces combined with the taught, muscular, brutalist, concrete structure piercing through the building.
